Frequently Asked Questions:
What is API Nation?
API Nation is cloud-based enterprise grade integration software, automating tasks such as synchronizing databases, backing up data, and much more. You can view a full list of apps that can integrate via API Nation here.
What is an Integration?
An integration is a connection between two apps on API Nation’s platform. The integration will sync data according to the workflow settings.
What is a Workflow?
A workflow is a set of rules/actions that determine how an integration between App A and App B will behave. Workflows can specify which data should sync over allowing users control over the format and functionality of the integration.
How do I update my payment method on file?
Whether your card is about to expire or you simply wish to change the credit card being billed, we have an article to guide you through the process - How to update your payment method
How is the metered billing usage calculated?
In API Nation, only the successful action of creating, reading, updating, or deleting a "record" is counted towards your record-based plan. This means that the number of records that trigger the workflow, or the number of records processed by each workflow step, are not counted until the workflow takes an action.
For more information, please refer to How are records measured in API Nation?
How do I limit how many records are being updated through API Nation?
One way to limit what information is being sent through our service is to reduce the amount of mapping options in your workflow (where applicable). Each piece of contact information you have setup in your mapping options could trigger our service to update your contacts.
For example, if you are syncing kvCORE to Mailchimp in order to send emails out to your clients, you may want to choose not to sync over the Address or Phone Number. This way if you are updating those points of contact in kvCORE for your clients, it is not sending the updates to Mailchimp and counting towards your metered usage.
How do I pause my billing?
Unfortunately at this time there is not a way to pause your billing. Pausing your workflows does not pause your billing. If you wish to no longer be billed you will need to cancel your subscription.

What data is required for syncs to work?
Generally speaking most app integrations require the following data in order to be able to sync through API Nation.
For contact based integrations a contact must have at least:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email or Phone
For transaction based integrations:
- Transaction name and amount
I just turned on my integration. Why isn't all of my information there?
When you first activate your integration, it's common for not all of your information to appear immediately. Our integration process operates in batches, meaning it syncs data over gradually rather than all at once. This approach ensures smooth and efficient synchronization without overwhelming your system. Please be patient as the integration continues to work in the background, gradually bringing over all of your information. If you have any concerns or specific questions about the syncing process, feel free to reach out to our support team for assistance.
Is there any way to tell when an integration has finished syncing the data?
Our integration service is designed to continually run in the background, ensuring seamless data synchronization. As such, it doesn't have a definitive 'finish' point. However, a good indication that the integration isn't actively syncing new information is when the logs display 'Ignored.' This suggests that there's no new data to process at that moment. Rest assured, our service operates efficiently to keep your data up-to-date at all times.
I'm getting an error "User already exists". What does that mean?
If you encounter the error message "User already exists," it means that the account you're attempting to connect is already linked to another API Nation account. To resolve this issue, you'll need to log in to your previous account and remove the existing connections associated with it.
What does "Do not overwrite information..." mean?
Within some of API Nation's workflows, you'll find an option labeled "Do not overwrite information in data fields. Only add information into blank fields." This setting ensures that the integration only fills in data for existing contacts when the corresponding field is empty in the destination application.
For instance, if you're syncing a contact with a mobile phone number that is different in System A compared to System B, activating this option means the numbers will remain different. Our integration will not overwrite the existing number in System B to match the one in System A.
