Lofty and iCloud Contacts Sync via API Nation

The Lofty and iCloud Contacts integration will synchronize your Contacts between Lofty, your iPhone and iPad. The integration has two Syncs available so you can create a complete two way sync between Lofty and iCloud Contacts.

  • All of your Lofty Contacts are available in your iPhone phonebook and ready for quick, easy access to call or text
  • Updated Contacts names will be accurately displayed through caller ID and texts
  • Keep Lofty contacts info in lock step with your iPhone and iPad Contacts info.

Checkout the video above to see it in action.

If you'd prefer to read through a guide, here's a step-by-step:

Head to https://my.apination.com/apps/chime/icloud_contacts/ to get started.

There you will see two syncs available for Lofty and iCloud Contacts.

  • Lofty leads to iCloud Contacts contacts
  • iCloud Contacts contacts into Lofty

You can set up one or both of these Syncs for the same flat rate. Click activate to begin set up.

First, you’ll be asked to Connect each of the apps to API Nation

To connect Lofty, click the button “Connect”, Sign into your Lofty account and click Authorize

Next you will connect iCloud Contacts. Click the “Connect” button under the iPhone logo

To connect your iPhone Contacts, you’ll need your Apple ID, and an app-specific-password. There are links on this form to guides to create your app-specific-password

To create the app-specific-password, open a new tab and go to https://appleid.apple.com/

Sign in with your Apple ID and related password.

It will ask you for Two Factor Authentication. Check your iPhone, iPad, or Macbook for the 6 digit code.

Once signed in, click on the tile for “App-Specific Passwords”

Click Generate, Add a name (e.g. API Nation) and then click “Create”

Once you’ve created the password, highlight it and press cmd+c or ctrl+c to copy.

Go back to the API Nation tab in your browser, and paste the password in using cmd+v or ctrl+v

Once you’ve connected your iPhone Contacts (iCloud), you can now begin configuring your Sync for launch.

There are a few options to decide before activating the Sync. Starting with the “Lofty leads to iCloud Contacts people” sync:

  1. “Sync all leads on first run”: Check the box to send over all contacts from Lofty, leave the box unchecked if you’d only like to start sending over new contacts added from today going forward.
  2. Group Filter: Optional Filter to only Sync contacts from a particular group in Lofty
  3. Agent Filter: Optional filter, choose to send contacts assigned to All Agents, or a single specified Agent.
  4. Filter Tags: Optional filter to send over contacts to iCloud Contacts from a tag or number of tags. Be sure to add a comma after each tag, and enter the tags exactly as they are in Lofty, including capitalization.

5. "Do not overwrite information..." Check this box if you would like the Sync to only fill in empty fields in iCloud. Leave the box unchecked if you are OK with Lofty contacts overwriting contacts in iCloud.

6. Click "Subscribe" to create the Sync.

Once you've created the Sync, it will have all the settings from the previous screen. Just a couple more things to consider before activating it.

Scroll down and confirm the filters and mapping.

(Optional) Filters:

  • Choose a field from the dropdown and then a criteria for including or excluding contacts.
  • Click "Advance Mode" to add additional "And" / "Or" rules to your filter
  • Be sure to save your filter

Mapping:

Most of the fields are premaped by the system. If there are any additional fields you would like to connect, click the “Plus” icon on the right of the empty field, and select the field from the drop down.

You can add multiple fields into a single field (e.g. First Name Last Name into the Full Name field).

You can also add plain text to a field (e.g. add the Text “Lofty” in a field called Lead Source, so mark all the leads coming through as from the source “Lofty”)

Once you’re satisfied with the options, Scroll to the top and click the big Activate Sync button.

The Sync will now be activated. From here you can:

  • Rename the Sync (helpful if you created multiple Syncs with slightly different rules.
  • Pause the Sync
  • Clone the Sync to create a Sync with the exact same connection and configuration, you can then make the slight configuration changes to fit your needs
  • Click the Lofty logo or iCloud Contacts logo to be taken to their full menu of Syncs available.

You can then go back to: https://my.apination.com/apps/chime/icloud_contacts to set up your choice of the remaining Lofty and iCloud Contacts Syncs.

Once you’ve connected them, they will all be available for management in the “My Syncs” area of API Nation.

That’s it!

As soon as a contact is updated or added in Lofty, the integration will see it and send it over to your iPhone Contacts. And as soon as you add a Contact to your iPhone Contacts that contact will also be added into Lofty.

Your Caller ID info will always be up to date, your contacts are completely backed up, and you’ll save time managing contacts.
